Sonora: State of Stars

In 2002, a Mexican network announced the beginning of castings for a reality show which would start in June. The show would be a singing academy in which 14 students would be chosen from all the country to begin its singing studies. One of these would be Yahir Othon, from Sonora. Although he did not won one of the first third places, Yahir was the only one in reaching fame.
Three years later, the reality show had chosen another person from Sonora for entering to the house. This was Yuridia Gaxiola, whom with her short age of nineteen years-old, had a tremendous voice.
Some of the top musical groups of today are also from Sonora. But not only in the musical area is where Sonora has developed. Sports are also a part in which this state had overcame.
Ana Gabriela Guevara, Juan Pedro Toledo, and Alejandro Cardenas, all from Sonora, have had, each in their respective times, a great participation in several world championships or in the Olympics. In baseball, we have Alex Rodriguez, Fernando Valenzuela, and Erubiel Durazo.
Since Maria Felix to Valentin Elizalde, Sonoran people is in constant growth and this is just beginning.
